I second the Glyphius endorsement above. Such a simple, powerful tool for honing your copy.

Especially when it comes to “Subject” Lines or Headlines, etc. For me, it’s been like having a seasoned editor hanging over my shoulder and critiquing my work on the fly.

While we’re on the subject of products from James Brausch, I also love Nemeas for optimizing my Domain names.

Anyone else feel the same?

Thanks for the great post! I agree with most, especially writing as if speaking to a friend and writing in “regular”-type sentence. However, sometimes a little statistical analysis helps out, too! Try something like: http://www.Glyphius.com — which mathematically studies the profitability of headlines and ads.

It’s important to remember that the reader did subscribe to the email, and therefore at some point wanted to hear from you. Your email, then, probably already has some value to them. The subject line should convey that value.
